Authorities reported they were alerted by a individual who discovered a car in Hanau marked with reddish substance

Around fifty automobiles have been smeared with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.

Cars, exterior walls and postboxes were vandalized, occasionally with swastikas, they announced in a statement.

Police state they were notified late on Wednesday evening, when a individual observed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued substance.

The substance had been placed in the pattern of a banned symbol, they added.

Police then located multiple other smeared automobiles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.

Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.

Police state preliminary tests suggest the liquid was probably blood from a person.

"There is still no lead as to where it came from; investigators are presently not aware of any harm in association with the incident," they stated.

Municipal representatives announced they were trying "to solve the incident" and have asked to the residents for information.

A high-ranking representative commented the vandalism rendered him stunned and needed to be resolved rapidly.

"This event affects the center of Hanau and revives the pain of the right-wing violent incident five years ago," he posted on online, referring to the death of nine victims by a gunman aiming at people of immigrant origin in five years prior.
