Former Physician Faces Assault Allegations Involving 38 Patients

Prosecutors have stated that a former doctor stands accused of carrying out sexual assaults involving thirty-eight individuals who were under his care.

The Grave Charges

Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of numerous acts of sexual assault – some of which involve acts against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.

One deputy chief prosecutor said, “Legal teams have diligently worked to assist a thorough and intricate police inquiry, meticulously examining the available evidence to determine that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”

Scope of the Investigation

These allegations follow what investigators called a “complex investigation” into alleged sexual offences at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.

The defendant will appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.

List of Offences

Prosecutors outline the forty-five sexual offences he is charged with:

  • Fifteen counts of assault.
  • 17 counts of penetrative assault.
  • 9 counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
  • 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
  • 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.

Police are urging individuals with information to contact the investigating team.
