Soccer Analyst Chris Sutton Faces Off Against Artist Olly Murs in Top Flight Predictions

Arsenal's 10-game victorious streak was ended by Sunderland before the international hiatus, but will the English top division frontrunners recover against north London rivals Tottenham this weekend?

"{I feel like Arsenal are light years ahead of Tottenham currently but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a strategy for this match," stated soccer expert Chris Sutton.

"The Spurs manager will try to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their sparkling finest this season - but Mikel Arteta's side usually still find a way to win."

Sutton is making predictions for all 380 Premier League fixtures this term, against artificial intelligence, fans and a range of special visitors.

For the twelfth round, he faces singer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United fan.

Murs' new album, Knees Up, is available on Friday.

Football and Family Experiences

Murs is a talented soccer player as well as a successful artist and has been a featured player of several charity football matches down the years - but he is not intending a serious return as a player.

"{I actually played in a benefit game the other evening for a mate of mine," he said. "The side was trailing 3-1 when I was substituted in the 60th minute, and they proceeded to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you want!

"I continue to love football, but I injured my joint a few years ago and it still hasn't fully recovered. I wish I could play more but the uncertainty of the game means it's too dangerous for me in my profession to do it seriously again.

"Additionally I am forty-one now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am gearing up for the moment that my daughter or son decides to play instead."

Murs and his spouse his partner have a young family, their daughter and their son, and he is prepared to emulate his dad by becoming their manager.

"I will not force football on our children but I've already told my wife that if they happen to get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my coaching badges - and I will likely be coaching their weekend football team," he added.

"I watched my relatives play a lot, and I really got into it, and I obviously owned a football club for a while too.

"My dad did it with us when I was a kid, which is likely where I get it from. He coached our side for two or three seasons and had a wonderful time with it. That might be the future for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"

Top Division Predictions

Weekend, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

The Blues might have to wait a bit longer for their star's return from injury but their offense is now more potent with Pedro and Liam Delap both back fit.

I still think this fixture will be fairly close, however. The Clarets are well organised and their only at Turf Moor losses so far have been against Liverpool and Arsenal.

It suggests a one-all draw to me, but I am actually going to choose Chelsea to edge it for what would be their third consecutive Premier League win in a row.

Sutton's forecast: 1-2

Olly's pick: The Blues will be too strong. 1-3

AI's outlook: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Bournemouth have lost their previous couple matches - although both of them were on the road - but they got absolutely spanked by Villa last time out which shocked me.

On the other hand, the Hammers won two in a row before the hiatus and, although both of those fixtures were at their stadium, they do look strong again.

The Hammers' only away win this season came at Nottingham Forest in August, when West Ham boss Nuno Espirito Santo was previously Forest manager.

So, what exactly do I go with here - can the Hammers continuing their streak under their manager, or the home side responding?

I will choose the Cherries, because I think what occurred against Aston Villa was a anomaly.

Sutton's forecast: 2-0

Olly's prediction: The home team are performing strongly but the visitors have picked up under Nuno. 2-2

The algorithm's pick: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Brentford were considered one of the favourites for the drop before the campaign began, but they have impressed a few observers under their manager and are in fine fettle with three in their past four matches.

A family member told me to select Bees striker Igor Thiago in my fantasy soccer squad a few weeks back and, unfortunately, I didn't listen.

The forward will probably find the net again on the weekend but I am still not going to pick him or back Brentford at Brighton's ground.

The Bees have not had much fortune on the road this term, and the Seagulls are always decent at their stadium. The visitors will attempt to attack on the break but I think the home manager's side carry much more of a danger.

The analyst's prediction: 2-1

The singer's view: It could be a match where you think there is going to be a many goals but it actually turns out to be rather close. 1-1

The computer's outcome: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

It is a massive fixture for the Cottagers, who have lost five of their last six games.

Fulham have got lots of talent in their squad but it still feels like they could be dragged into a relegation fight.

Regarding Sunderland, indeed they are the surprise package of the top flight campaign so far.

The away side's display in the 2-2 tie with the Gunners last time out was superb. We have not seen any other team disrupt the North London side like that this season, and Sunderland were more than a match for them.

The sensible thing to do to back the visitors here, because they are obviously capable of disrupting Fulham up too and, the previous occasion they were in west London, they beat the Blues at the close of October.

But I am not going to do that. Instead, I truly need to continue going against Sunderland with my predictions. I am taking a lot of responsibility for their positive results because they evidently enjoy to defy my predictions.

Considering the home side's at Craven Cottage record, the sole side they have lost to is the league leaders. Their manager's team will be extremely eager for a good outcome, so I am going to predict they will pick up three points.

Sutton's prediction: 1-0

The guest's choice: I'm aware the visitors are performing strongly and also that the hosts are on a poor streak... but Fulham have nonetheless been decent at Craven Cottage this campaign. 2-0

AI's prediction: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

It is a tough one to call. Liverpool have lost seven of their last ten games in every tournament, but might they be among the sides who benefit from the {international break|
